Team ViaSat 2006 Race Across AmericaI'm putting this page together the morning before departure. It contains some information for friends and family. First of all, here's where to get more information:
You can follow our progress across the country and compare that against the other teams. We have a default rider schedule, but it is subject to change. I will be riding half of the time for five hours every twenty hours, starting at 10:00 PM EDT on Tuesday, June 13. Here's my schedule (all times Eastern, which is official race time):
10:00 AM EDT June 15 — We're in Cortez right now. Our team has been performing very well. That's the riders and the crew and the video support. Team ViaSat is averaging over 20 miles per hour from the start. Right now we're riding into the Rockies between Durango and Pagosa Springs. Our rider rotation hasn't changed, so I'm still on the schedule above. Yesterday's ride was windy. The tailwind on US 160 through Tuba City was a lot of fun. The crosswinds before that on US 89 north of Flagstaff were no fun at all. It was a difficult descent to the Little Colorado. My high speed was 52 mph with gusting crosswinds of over 20 mph. Thanks to everyone who has been supporting us. I'll try to post occasional updates as we go. |
